The small silver lining is that there has been almost a complete cessation of all the junk e mails. I had in a previous post stated that not even acknowledging them but just deleting them has reduced the flow. However since the virus struck there is hardly any. I wonder if the emails are coming from China or Italy or Spain and their activities have been curtailed due to illness. What a shame, dear me how very sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What am I going to do for my penis extensions, meeting lovely Russian girls, having my fortune told etc etc.?

I wish I could say the same.

I get an unremitting trickle of spam telling me my Papal account is being closed, my e-mail account needs updating, that UPS are trying to deliver a parcel, that I have won a lottery somewhere, that someone in some remote part of the world has an inheritance they wish to share with me and so on.

Fortunately no-one seems to think my penis needs enlarging or that an attractive girl wishes to meet me. (Are the two connected?)

Presumably because they realise that your Papal account is based in the Vatican.

Yes, it's interesting. One might assume on first principle that more spare time might provoke spammers to more activity. What is the explanation ? Computer-generated Spam would continue unabated. So presumably the previous spam came from people at work, who are no longer there ?

Probably just a coincidence - not noticed any less on my personal e-mail addresses and work one seems to be getting a few more.

I suspect even 'spammers' may heed the advice to 'work from home', which may not work unless they can route their e mails via other servers. hey ho, never look a gift horse etc etc.

By the way FP. If you feel you may be able to avail yourself of some of these fine services I would be happy to forward them on!!!

I gather as reported on the net, ransomware is gathering pace and not only encrypting a pc -but also its backups on the cloud encrypting them as well, so be carefull as they are getting even more nasty

Presumably their way in is via an e mail and a link to click onto. I would never open a link from anyone I did not know, and would probably check an uninvited or surprise link from someone I did in case their e mail was compromised. Luckily there is little in my hard drive that is essential or vital to me so I know someone who can wipe them clean and re-start the whole thing again. Thanks for the warning.

I know people that have been caught out by links to videos and music on the net so its not just by email, and as people are getting bored, now is the ideal time to catch people out unfortunately...
