There is an entry in todays "recently answered questions" concerning a failed MOT on a 5year old Mini 29000miles needing a total rear brake replacement according to the dealership. My question is would the calipers really warp as they are substantial metal parts?

I’d like to see the mot failure sheet to ascertain exactly what the brake failure is. It’s very difficult to fail brakes on an mot test . Usual problem with main dealers is they want to replace anything where the label has worn off.

The mini cooper disks warped as in 29K miles the wheels have never been taken off & fettled under a Mini Service regime.

I pay extra every 2 years to have the CRV wheels off, pads out, etc etc

My Indie charges me £50+ VAT for fettling the brakes - massively cheaper than new calipers, pads & discs needed through neglect.

Last time at the Honda garage, for a airbag recall, a Jazz came off an AA trailer - full replacement of rear Calipers, Discs & Pads was roughly £1200!!! The car had been serviced just 3 months earlier.

Preventative maintenance costs very little compared to neglect AKA squirt of brake cleaner.

Discs are known to warp occasionally, but calipers? I think not. Tester either a bit confused or just absent-minded.
