Hi all. Wondering if you can help me out? I've been looking at buying an Audi A3 S-Line and found one this morning on the car-unlimited.com website. This company appears to buy repossessed cars and then sell them on. According to their website, the buyer reserves a vehicle online, then the car is delivered to their home address and is given 3 days to decide if they want to keep the vehicle, at which point payment is made. Seems a little unusual to me, but I guess they don't have showrooms to visit where you can test drive the cars. Has anyone had any dealings with this company? Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

I know nothing about the company, but a snatched back car would have to be seriously cheap for me to consider, especially when their sales method involves you receiving the car without having ever laid eyes on it, don't know if you'd even get to see any paperwork before delivery.

The biggie here though, what would you expect the care and maintenance to be like on a car the previous owner couldn't afford the repayments on? hence why a car would have to be really cheap, and a relatively simple car at that, to be of any interest at all.

^^^^^^^

What GB said.

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole it's cheap for a reason.

This name could be represented in various ways but if its "cars un limited" there is a pretty professional looking website. You do pay in advance so maybe its not the same company?

However if it is the company in question the address is a building in Swansea with apparently multiple companies and the official info for "cars un limited" shows it as a dormant company with one director and assets of £1. Maybe its just restarting .....but the website claims its been in business for 7 years.

Too many maybes?

Their privacy policy refers to acts which do not appear to exist - usually the sign of someone having skimmed information from the web to make a site look genuine.

Looked at the website, sounds too good to be true. Cars seem very cheap. Dealers don't give cars away.

They want paid in advance before shipping the car. How sure would you be that the car would actually arrive?

A bit of background of the website

Hosted in Russia.

(Sorry - link deleted as it could be too much of a risk. The other ones on this thread look OK, but if anyone thinks they too are risky please let us know.)

All the cars were previously on the car giant website at a substantially higher price. However they are marked as sold on the Car Giant website.

Seems like Cars Unlimited are using Car Giant's photos from the cars Car Giant (legitimately) sold.

Also when you type the registration numbers into the vehicle enquiry site, they are shown as being taxed. They wouldn't be taxed if they were in trade.

It seems like the cars, Cars Unlimited are selling already have owners.

Most interesting, well found Fiesta Owner.

Looking at the Jazz and the Maserati, both cars show around a 3000 mile increase on the unlimited website from the CG site, coincidence i wonder in that both cars were purchased and in whatever time it took the new owners to cover 3k miles, they failed to make enough payments to trigger snatch back.

Thanks for mentioning about the mileage. I've looked back at the 4 examples I quoted at random previously.

In each of the 4 examples the mileage has risen by exactly 2800 miles.

Alarm bells should be ringing. Don't walk away. RUN!

All 4 2800 miles exactly? now that is somewhat miraculous.;-)

Yep...look professional enough...but for me there are too many question marks.

I think it's a risk I wouldn't want to take.

The sad fact is though the reason web sites like this pop up is that people are gullible enough to fall for them and lose a lot of money.

However for anyone still in any doubt, check out Buster Jacks facebook page. Seems to be a page devoted to scam vehicle websites.

I've deleted the rest of the threads on this as they're thr producvt of a subhuman species, but this OP I think was genuine, and the advice in response is of course excellent and worth preserving.

"They want paid in advance before shipping the car. How sure would you be that the car would actually arrive?"

Thank you for that in particular Fiesta Owner: nobody - at least, not private individuals buying a car - should ever pay in advance before a car is shipped

Thanks Avant - hope you didn't have to deal with too many notifications! Is the site in the "banned filter"?

I don't have access to IP addresses, but if the sub-human starts again, Kalpesh at our head office will be able to do something.

Car-Unlimited.com - car sales website - dan86

It's good to know something can be done.

I will admit to enjoying having fun with the individual who was doing this.

I meant his .com site, not his IP address.

Is there a reason why the HJ forum doesn't add rel=nofollow to links like other forum software does? This prevents links from being used for SEO, although of course people may still click them so it's not a panacea.

For example, on HJ:

<a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-your-money-48776454" target="_blank">www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-your-money-48776454<...t;

Whereas on wikipedia:

<a rel="nofollow" class="external text" href="http://www.historytoday.com/richard-cavendish/henry-ii-france-dies-tournament-wounds">Henry II of France</a>

By all means ask that question of our IT guru Kalpesh who will understand it.

I found this website through an add on Facebook marketplace advertising the car I was looking for (Alfa Romeo Mito). I’ve had a few interactions on their chat facility where they have given more details of the car (1 owner, non smoker, 2 keys) and have also said they mainly trade with dealers rather than individuals. I started the ‘reservation’ process and saw that their only method of payment is bank transfer. THAT is what has worried me.

DON'T PAY ANYTHING.

This is a total scam. You will lose any money you pay (or transfer). You won't get a car.

Read through the posts above.

Re Non-smoker

How would they know, especially as they deal with dealers mainly!?

As said above. DO NOT PROCEED. THE WEBSITE IS A SCAM and appears to have associations with RUSSIA.

The company house details are a jumble, designed to confuse, I suspect.

I’m so grateful I found this thread. I agree it sounds shady. There is also no contact telephone number. This is the response to an email I sent about delivery.

Yes we can schedule a delivery date to suit.

I also had an online chat this evening with someone who provided me with the file details. I took screenshots and have noticed MOT is 2/8/19 due 2/7/20 - on the GOV.UK website mot AND tax are due Feb 20, so another anomaly.

Bank transfer only? They are having a laugh! A big NoNo!
