As BT mentions, first check is the brake fluid reservoir, it might not be an ABS fault as such simply a leak somewhere.

Needs looking at by a competent mechanic, preferably a garage known to be decent rather than a fast fit joint.

If it has rear drums fitted it could be a leaky rear wheel cylinder has allowed the brake fluid to escape.

Being a 207 it could have either rear drums or rear discs fitted.

207 Sport has rear drums - at least my 207SW diesel does, I've just checked them. Yes, check the reservoir - it's under the scuttle, open bonnet and look behind the engine.

If the fault cleared I'd suspect boiling brake fluid. In that case it'll come back unless you change the fluid. Cheap fix. Most other possibilities are more expensive.

There's nothing "cost effective" about a Mk1 207. Nice car but with loads of flaws.

I'm still waiting for flaws to appear in my 2008 model. Maybe they will all appear at once.

You're very lucky if you've not had water ingress issues or the rear light cluster issue!

No problems with rear lamp clusters. One rear footwell did get a bit wet, but I assumed that was probably caused by granddaughters doing things with the window. The car lives outdoors but doesn't often get driven in heavy rain.
