Mahindra coming to the UK 2020 - daveyK_UK
Mahindra have announced they plan to expand out of Italy and Spain in the next 18 months and enter the UK by 2020.

Dacia take note

I don’t expect Suzuki UK nor the importers behind Ssangyong UK to be happy about this

I don't think any car manufacturers even the cheapest like Dacia will be worrying about that Indian junk.

Are you going to list all 150 or so new/revised cars due in the next year?

I hope Mahindra have improved their product.

In 1991 I was working as a Marketing Consultant and I remember working on a customer satisfaction survey for a Mahindra/Yugo dealer principal.

Although the main focus was to critique the salesmen, it involved taking test drives in a Mahindra Jeep and a Yugo Sana,

Both were absolutely dire from a dynamic and quality point of view. The salesmen weren't bad though.

Mahindra sell re-bagged Ssangyong models in India, although not in Europe. I take it they are not allowed to sell them in the same markets as Ssangyong.

Europe gets a mixed bag from the new and surprisingly well received KUV100 mini SUV to some old stuff such as the Genio

Regardless, if the price is right, they will sell

I had it in my mind that the last Mahindra's in the UK would have been earlier than that. Was the Mahindra Jeep still on the go when the Asia Motors Rocsta was on sale here? (i think that would have been '93 or '94). Regarding the driving manners, in the Mahindra's defence it was just a licence built Jeep CJ-3, which dates from around the late 40's, using a (license built) 2.1 Peugeot Diesel, so you wouldn't really expect it to drive with any sort of finesse!.

I had a look on Mahindra's website and they still build something very similar to the Jeep, along with a range of other, more generic looking stuff.

I don't remember the Rocsta, BBD, but I think Mahindra gradually disappeared through the early '90s.

Hadn't realised it was based on a '40s Jeep, crude it certainly was.

As stated the KUV100 gets a decent write up in Spanish motoring press.

It’s a budget small mock SUV

Here is the Asia Motors Rocsta, which looked more like the later Jeep CJ-5,

It was South Korean and used the ultra reliable Mazda 1800 petrol and 2.2 n/a Diesel.

Davey, looked at some pics, it's an ugly little thing, but i dunno, i kinda like it!. Also, despite it's apparent size, pics online of the interior show a '1+1' passenger seat, making it potentially a 6 seater!. Though i don't suppose for a moment that option will be offered in the UK.
