Peugeot 207 CC 1.4 16v - Water ingress into fusebox - Steveieb
Yet again the dashboard lights are indicating a problem with the Alb , steering etc and intermittent lack of braking and steering.

Had the fuse box replaced with a second hand part in May last year but the problem is back again.

There is mention of water coming from the washer pipe but I've no idea how to check this.

Can you advise please , seems to be a well documented problem . French electrics !

Could this be the dreaded water leak into the ECU via capilliary action from the temperature sensor?

Thanks Brit but how can I check this and any leak from the washer pipe?

Are you able to give me the benefit of your experience Elecie Doc.

This appears to be a really common fault but the last repair was good for only 11 months .

Firstly i would check the charging cicuit .Make sure there is no excessive voltage. Also,I think this more likely to be a fault with the Abs system.I would check the multipin connector to the abs unit ,located in he left front wing area ,below the headlight, and behind the bumper.

Type "207 water ingress" into peugeotforums.com search box. Loads of information, pictures and advice.

It doesn't matter what nationality the electrics might be, none of them like water. I'm surprised the issue wasn't tackled when you last swapped the damaged part.

Had similar problems with the near side rear lights which is again a known problem that Peugeot have not tackled even though the car had a main dealer history until recently.

Again poor electric design which resulted in wiring loom and connectors burning out.

You are right Gibbo but how can I identify where the water is getting in ? What is the reference to the washer pump and temperature sensor.

HJ made a reference to the rear light problem on the Car by Car guide. How can we get a ref about the fuse box ?

As predicted it was water finding its way by osmosis from a damaged water pump into the fuse box along the wire supplying the power.

How many more well known electrical design faults are we yet to discover ?

Osmosis ?? Do you mean capillary action? Osmosis is molecules penetrating a membrane.

You are correct Andrew but what other horrors are we likely to encounter with this dreadfully unreliable car let down by poor electrics?

I don't know whether this problem only affects the CC, or 207s in general? Water usually got into Pug CC's (and others with folding hardtops) via poor roof seals. My 207SW has spent its entire 10 years outdoors, and the electrics are still OK - except for the heated rear screen, which I suspect is something to do with the opening rear window.

That's interesting this car has been garaged throughout its entire life ,

Is there a conclusion to be drawn there

207s in general, but only a tiny handful of them. We've got plenty of satisfied 207 owners on the forum with no water ingress issues - and they've not even done any preventative maintenance.

Maybe its just one small particular batch?
