I submitted a review for the Seat Leon ST about 3 weeks ago and it hasnt appeared yet. Is that normal or has it been rejected?

It might be worth sending an email to: kalpesh@honestjohn.co.uk

which Avant provided in the following post:

I had a dreadful experience buying the wife a phone last year form carphone warehouse. After about an hour in the shop being told all sorts of sales patter the sales lad refused to complete the sale since he said that he suspected that I may use a different SIMM car in the future which was illegal. Total nonsense, once its my phone I can do what I want with it.

Submitted a review which basically said "good price but sales staff need training" and I received an e-mail which said that my review did not meet their high standards.

I don't have much faith in reviews and review sites in general, with a few exceptions. Trustpilot is pretty good, although the dealer reviews are littered with transparently bogus "customer experiences". Fortunately, they're are easy to spot because they all look the same, avoiding detail of any kind in order not to be "found out".

I bought a garden bench last year, and when I started to assemble it I found that the bolt holes didn't line up, some bolts were missing and there was woodworm in one of the panels. I couldn't be bothered with the 20 mile round trip required to take it back, so I put it together as best I could and treated the woodworm, then posted a sarcastic but totally non defamatory review for the item on their website. It never saw the light of day.

Last year, when I was booking some hotels, I used 1 website and decided not to proceed when i got to the payment page, when i saw that the cancellation period in fact did not exist, and allowed the website to take full payment at anytime, inspite of it being pay at hotel...

minutes later phone call to ask about my booking. At no pint was i asked if i wished to be contacted. declined, offered discount, still declined, phoned again... same thing.

Left a poor review of booking process and it was removed as not being factual. showed proof of attempted booking and was replaced, but the Hotel booking website was allowed to say sorry for my experience....

Phoned them direct and asked them to delete all information held on me and would never use their website or services again.

Have done the same with other suppliers for other goods too, after poor service.

The new GDPR regulations, right to be forgotten will come in handy!

At the end of 2017 I had submitted a few Real MPG entries for my new car on this site. The entries would appear against the appropriate model for a time and then disappear.

I sent an email to kalpesh asking why that was happening and a while later a figure for the model did reappear. Several weeks later I received an email from kalpesh apologising for not replying earlier. He said the site usually starts displaying Real MPG averages for each engine once they have a few submissions from several different users.

Hopefully, the OP should be able to find out what happened to his review, but it might take a while.

You cannot beat independent review sites. Those run by, or closely affilliated to the manufacturer/product supplier are always bound to delete critical reviews to give the impression their product or customer service is better than it really is. Those that do appear on retailer websites I take with a pinch of salt. That said, I find many reviews on Amazon appear grouped together for similar products, so again, can be misleading.

I just wish the estate agent who handled my recent sale had a presence on an independent web site......

I really hate the sites that have a "we want your feedback" box, and having filled in a complaint there is no response whatsoever.

Got an email (survey) from the RAC the other week, well, it was from a 'third party' acting on the RAC's behalf after I renewed my breakdown cover, but I wasn't sure if it was genuine or a fake (not unheard of) with viruses or taking me to a phishing /malware page. I looked on the RAC website and they had no subjects to 'contact them' for me to ascertain whether this email was genuine or not, so I 'used' their contact us for a FOI request (the nearest I could think of), and hey, guess what, I filled in all the details, wrote a short-ish request, and it kept saying 'enter info here' (which I had done). No other way to contact them other than by phone, and given their poor showing at renewal time, and the normal ineptitude of such staff, I doubt they would have even known about this survey or who was doing it.

Customer service in this country is woeful, aside from a few bright spots.

To be fair to HJ and his team, this site is not a pay site and likely does not make £££ even after their ad revenue, so we just have to pitch in and help where we can - I need to contact them as I noticed some errors on some car specs/models available.

Care to insert your review in this thread, MCC? The Leon ST is currently at the top of my "possible" list, and I'd be interested in your impressions.

Unfortunately I didnt save it. However it's a good car. Mine is a company car and for some reason we got a version with a 5 spped gearbox. I would definitely go for 6 if i was you. Also in my personal opinion I'd prefer 16 inch wheels rather than the 17 inch mine came with as the ride is quite stiff.

I find there's a bit too much engine noise coming through to the cabin on the motorway. Take one for a test drive and see what you think.

Yup, I'm thinking in terms of 6-speed manual, 16" wheels. Petrol engine for me, 1.2tsi - might be a bit quieter (I think yours is diesel)? Thanks for your thoughts.

Yes mine is a diesel. I'm sure the petrol would be quieter, I'd prefer a petrol myself.
