Hi

I will be selling my MX-5 soon and would like to sell the private registration plate separately and was hoping some kind person on here could offer any advice i.e where to sell, how much for and how?

Never done it myself.

However, this looks interesting, though I would check its provenance against other sources first before following any of the advice given.

Try to sell it yourself on somewhere like eBay, as dealers will take a huge cut in commission in my experience.

I’ve sold a few; as most things easy to buy, difficult to sell. I’ve used the biggest company ( not allowed to name ) and found them pricey but efficient. If your number is desirable they may offer to buy it outright rather than sell .on commission. Consider getting a valuation then sell on eBay at @2/3 of valuation and see what offers you get. Remember the prices you see in the ads are negotiable.
If however the number is valuable might be better to use an agency as the sliding scale of fees is more bearable.
