Hi all. My better half has today just got an 07 307cc. Lovely car and drove perfectly on the test drive and the way home. However it's now started displaying the abs and esp lights. I'm not to worried about that but more this. When she brakes a little harder than normal, say coming up to a junction and stops, when she goes to pull away the revs go up to over 3000 and then there's a thump and the box engages and pulls away.

Any ideas?

Thanks Steve

I would definitely be worried about the abs/esp warning lights.A malfunction of this system can affect the driveability of the car and operation of the auto gearbox .It may be a simple wheel speed sensor problem,on the other hand it could be a whole lot more trouble and expensive.

Get the car battery checked first. An old battery can give lots of false sensor warnings.

If that's ok then the next thing I'd look at are the ABS sensors on the rears. Over time dirt and crud accumulates behind them and pushes them away from the hub.

Finally, another possible fault could be the steering angle sensor.

Luckily, all cheap and easy fixes. But you need to get a Planet diagnostic rather than one done with a generic reader, as only Planet will give accurate live data and is able to test parts.

Google "Planet owners map" if you want an independent fellow Pug owner to give it the once over.
