Yesterday my wife's '64 plate CR-V suddenly went into a limp mode which would not let it go faster than 20mph.
The engine revved ok in 1st gear but when I put into 2nd it wouldn't go past 20mph (approx 2000rpm). I tried 3rd gear but it would still not go past 20mph.
There were no warning lights on dashboard so I decided to drive it home (only about a mile). Only when I was within 200 yards of home did a loud audible alarm sound for about 5 seconds and then it stopped.
The AA engineer was not able to link his computer into the cars system as he reckoned it had been "locked out" by the fault. He had never come across this fault before - nor had the local Honda dealer service manager.
The car is booked in for next Monday.
Anybody experienced this fault before - and if so, how was it fixed?
Cheers
Mike
