Hi all - hopefully you can come to my rescue...

I've recently noticed a squeak coming from my Fiesta 1.4TDCI (2010, Mk7, 81k) gear lever.

The noise appears to come from the stick area itself and upon changing out of 1st, 3rd or 5th but not up into the same gears - i.e. moving the stick away from the engine only.

I've done some research and followed online wisdom; removed the trim/gator area and liberally sprayed white lithium grease around the area of the stick itself and the gear linkages. This worked..... for one journey and now it's back and regreasing hasn't solved it.

I'm not overly mechanically minded but does anyone have any other advice before I book it into my local garage for what is probably/hopefully something minor.

To follow up on this for any future queries....

It was indeed the gearbox linkages. However, they needed greasing at the gearbox end.

I can only assume that the vibration / noise travelled along them and into the cabin.

Local garage charged £15 to fix incl. labour and a test drive.
