Car Dealers in Basingstoke owned by City Motorholdings have gone overnight or so it feels. From what I can see Peugeot, Skoda, Seat, Ford, Honda and Suzuki just closed. There are more but it's such a mess no one seems to be sure who is left. Loads of jobs gone, local paper quotes trading difficulties. Also a largish Ford indie went the other week too. I suppose other parties may move in.
One customer went to collect a serviced car which was still on the ramp and there was only a security guy there who didn't know how to get it off.

I read last week of Infiniti Hull going bust some 6 months ago - it was a privately owned SAAB dealer of some 30 years never recovered from SAAB going bust 5 years ago - choosing Infinit & Renault as a replacement looks like 2 bad business decisions in a row.
