Mercedes 220 diesel - Dual clutch transmission - Azinbear

I have a Mercedes 220 diesel automatic, which is my first car with DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Mercedes has a “Hold” position, which disengages the transmission by an additional short stab on the footbrake after stopping and allows the foot to be taken off the brake pedal with the engine running, rather like neutral position on a manual gearbox.

However, if I hold the brake pedal down, the engine continues to run and the car is stationary.

As the transmission is mechanical, without oil to shear ( as in conventional automatic transmissions), what is slipping? Or are the two clutches released when the brake is held on? Is there any danger of damage or wear if the car is stationary for a long period with the brake held on?

Kind regards

I think you will find nothing is slipping. The gearbox is in neutral no gears when the car is stationary.only when the brake is released and the gas pedal pushed, does the electronics engage a gear.If it is like the Vw Dsg system, then there is one clutch for the even gears and one for the odds.
