Ford focus 1.6 zetec 2003 - Problem starting - Angus7777

I have Ford Focus 1.6 zetec 2003 model, 89500 miles regularly serviced. Today driven 10 miles in it no problems at all, stopped to unlock parking space, got back in key in the ignition, turned ignition very quick clicking sound and flickering dah lights, car will not start. Could this be a low battery in the key fob causing problems with the immobilser or should I be looking for something else?

Sounds very much like the main car battery problem. The clicking and flickering due to low voltage.

It could be something as simple as dirty battery teminals, dirty or loose +ve lead to the starter, or a dirty or loose -ve lead to the block.

It definitely won't be the battery in the key fob. That has nothing whatsoever to to with starting or anything, other than enabling you to lock and unlock the car from the remote. Exceptions to this were some Renault Laguna and Megane models with infra red transponders. Your Focus doesn't have that. It has a radio transmitter for the central locking, and a transponder chip in the key.

Sounds like the main battery. How old is it? If it's original then it's done well to last 12 years.
