Car Buying Recommendations - doubleuson

Hey Guys,

So I have a conundrum for you to unpick. I have a summer house on the coast of Georgia, USA that my family and I visit every summer for about a month and I've been pestering my dad to get a car out there for my friends and I to drive around. I live in London, UK all year round but I only have a US drivers license so here's the guidelines to what I want in the car:

- Sporty - has to be a car with performance and a good engine

- 2 doors

- Cabriolet (aka convertible) - In the Georgian heat, driving round is so much better top down

- Can be new or used (but preferably not over 5 years old (2010))

- Has to have a backseat of sorts - I don't care if you can't fit a human baby in them, it has to have some sort of back seats to check a box with the dad

- Budget is up to (and maybe slightly over) $90k.

Best thing I've come across is a 2012 Merc SL 63 AMG so far. Any other suggestions: go!

(Thanks)

Car Buying Recommendations - Avant

You have a very generous dad!

Most of our members are in the UK or Europe so we haven't the knowledge of what's available in the USA.

But for one month of the year surely you'd be better off renting? If you bought a car, what would happen to it for the other 11 months? You can't just leave it and expect it to go again after that length of time.

Couldn't agree more Avant. Tried that myself with a time share my brother and I had. Much better off and easier renting. QED.

Also, never mind the soft top, go for full climate control. No sunburn, no wind and much more secure. Bliss in the heat.
