I'm not sure if the gearbox (any sort) will have had an oil change under normal service routines, but that's something i would advise doing unless records prove its been done recently...ignore any sealed for life cobblers if that applies.
Also the modern garage method of brake maintenance in too many cases is to peer through or from behind the wheel and squirt brake cleaner in the general direction of the calipers, this is not good enough and will lead to brake problems in the long term, so get someone you trust (indies are nearly always the best bet unless you are a competent DIYer) to do a proper strip clean and lube up of the brake system, you absolutely cannot inspect brake pads apart from depth remaining without removing them, oh and if it hasn't been done an ideal time to flush the brake fluid too.
