The new Fabia might not be the most exciting car to look at but what cars in this sector have exciting looks.

I will be changing our 2nd car later this year and the 1.2 TSi version looks perfect for our needs. With luck there will be better discounts once the newness has worn off.

What we need is a decent boot, easy access, good economy BUT I still want something with a bit of go that will will not bore me to death in a few weeks.

Not looked at it yet, no idea if its in the showrooms, but on paper its in pole position easilly beating such cars as the Fiesta and Polo.

I suspect these awards are more to do with advertising sponsors than anything else.

They would be totally valueless and discredited if that were true - and magazine sales would plummet.

These awards are at least more useful than the European COTY, which is open only to cars introduced in the past year. If I remember right, this was won last year by the Peugeot 308, which is easily beaten by other cars in the class.

Do you mean the well respected European Car of the Year award that has been won by some real classics such as:

NSU RO80

Chrysler Horizon

Renault 9

Fiat Uno

Fiat Tipo

etc, etc.

I'm sick of jacked up hatches masquerading as suvs. They then have the cheek to make them "sporty".

Good grief, I miss the main stream good looking coupe.
