Ford Focus 2004 1.8 Diesel - replacing crankshaft pulley and seal after oilleak - a.tiffany14

Hi All,

My Focus got an oil leak and my father-in-law located the problem as the crankshaft pulley. He changed the seal twice to no avail, then replaced the pulley and then another seal in the new pulley. Each time he has replaced the seal or pulley the oil leak has returned...

When test driving it, the crankcase breather hose was removed to check it wasnt pressurising but still, an oil leak returns.

Has anybody come across this problem before (or similar) and can pass on any advice?

Many thanks,

Andy

If the new seal has been installed correctly I can only suggest that the shaft has some damage on it which is destroying the seal.
