My immediate reaction would be to check that there is oil in the gearbox, check the fiesta forums, and also ask a ford dealer,

It's a common fault with the Fiesta gear change - well known about and there's plenty of other threads on this forum with advice about it. There are plastic bushes which must distort slightly when warm. I've read of some chaps who have dismantled the bushes and run a drill bit through them. Try removing the driver's side cover from the centre console - next to your left foot - and spray silicone lubricant around the two rods from the gear stick which go through to connect up to the gear-change cables. It'll get better with wear, but I agree that changing gear when it's that stiff is a real pain. But it is just the gear-change rods and cables, nothing serious at all!

And just to add to that - it is such a common problem that I can't understand why garages say that they've never come across the problem before! Nearly every Fiesta owner has!
