Could be rings, injector maybe, cracked piston.

Does it start / run ok?

It runs like new but has refused to start every 10days then every7days now every 3 days. I can hear fuel pumping from tank when key is turned it ignition position.

Very possibly injector seals/o-rings.As this is a Pd engine,the injectors sit in a fuel gallery in the cylinder head.When the seals leak,it puts diesel fuel into the engne oil.hth

Does definitely sound like either an injector o ring or an injector sticking open allowing fuel to get into the oil.

Could also be the tandem fuel pump which bolts onto the end of the camshaft.

Well folks mechanic tried to connect to ecu but it would not let him in. He said it could be faulty ecu? What ya think???

I really can't possibly see how any diagnostic equipment is going to explain how fuel is getting into the engine oil.Get yourself a competent mechanic.

As you've got a fuel leak somewhere it's most likely to be a fuel problem. Very unlikely to be the ECU. VCDS is the best diagnostic aid for this engine.

Try some easy start to see if it will fire.

Latest update guys. I let it down the hill ay my house and it took off. I ran it for a half hour trip n no problems. One hour later refused to fire. Let it down the hill again and took off again. Drove it for 10 min restarted ok. Drove for another 10 min and restarted 2hours later.also restarted later this evening without a problem. Welcome any comments thanks!

The way I see this is that if the injection system is losing fuel pressure either through the injector seals or tandem pump,then you are going to have starting problems.There is no monitoring of the high pressure fuel system on these,so a diagnostic tester will not show any pressure loss in the system.hth
