Hi Guys

Does anyone know what is the right battery for my 406hdi 110pls?

i mean what is the minimum AH that need to a good start

i know diesel need to be good and strong on AH

also not sure what layout i need to buy becuse as i see mine one is the other way then most of the cars.Is it still ok to buy a normal layout and turn it 180 sideways?

any help much appreciated

You need to go to a specialist battery supplier internet site, see what they recommend and check which battery poles are where. (Very important).

You MUST check the positive and negative terminals are the same position on the battery as your existing one - or it will not fit...

Bosch: S5-008

Exide: 027TE

Yuasa: 027T

Varta: 027

The 406 shares most mechanicals with the Citoren Xantia. In the latter what appear to be battery problems may actually be down to phsical degradation of the main lead runnig battery>alternator>starter. A variety of elecrochemical issues cause the copper cores to corrode reducing the lead's capacity to transmit current.

The obvious symptom is that lead gets very hot - thermal damage to the insualtion is first visible sign followed by meltdown of +ve connection.

I have just replaced the one in my 406 with a Bosch 68ah for £58.00 on ebay. Mine was actually for a C5 but it fits if you adjust the clamp. Check the listings on ebay for the correct type.

i want some good brand bosch or varta but i canot find what you wrote

is that a type of battery?

i found 2 very good from bosch sizewise good but layout is not only if i turn it 180degree sideway.the one i have now some noname battery fitted the same way .

can i buy any of these and turn it sideway to reach both layout in good?

is these strong enough?

bosch s3 black 70ah / 640cca

bosch s4 blue 74ah / 680cca

When you get round to replacing it don't forget to do a BSI reset, there's a specific procedure for reconnecting a battery.
