Citroen Xsara Picasso 08 Plate - Air Con Whiring Noise - josmond

Hi, Our Citroen Xsara Picasso, has started making a funny whiring noise when the aircon is switched on.

Its like a leaf has got into the fan and is spining round and round.

If I have the heater fan on number 1 and switch on the Air Con the noise starts and changes pitch with the rev of the engine. If I turn the Aircon button off the noise stops

Has anyone had this problem before, is there anything I can check?

Unlikely to be a leaf in the fan,as it is the same fan for a/c on or a/c off.Could be something trapped in the engine cooling fan as this will start up when a/c is engaged.hth

Have you opened the bonnet and listened. It could be the fan, tor the compressor.
