Toyota Carina E - high emmissions - Roger_D

My car has just failed the MOT. The emmissions are high. The Lambda is ok but the CO has difficulty getting to the required reading. The lambda is only a couple of years old. Is there any way of finding out and checking which parts are playing up ? Thanks

High CO with everything else ok is normal for an aged cat. Don't waste money on potions. Aged cats struggle to operate at low exhaust gas temperatures. A good run immediately prior to emissions testing can usually do the trick.

Good 10 mile burn up in the morning to wake it up, good 10 mile burn up just prior to the test to get the cat sizzling.

Then they just ignore you for half an hour while all your good work goes to waste
