Good road test report.
Do you know anything about the Auto version ?
Some tests say it is noisy and sluggish.
Any comments ?
Regards, David.

If it is the same as the Neon, I drove a customer's last year, and it wasn't bad. The auto is 3 speed, and is a bit old hat these days, therefore you lose a bit of acceleration as the gear ratios aren't so close. Also, because it revs more in each gear to reach the next, you noticed the engine noise more. If you're not looking for a racer it was OK, but if you're looking for the very best, then I guess there is better out there, and this is reflected in the sales figures (for the Neon, anyway).

No, mate. Neons in other markets have a 4 speed box and so does the Cruiser in the UK. But I still reckon the body is too heavy for the autobox and the aerodynamics don't help either. The manual has one of the best, most positive shifts I've driven for a long time, VAG engineers please take note.

Haven't driven it, but the Cruiser is very heavy so I would guess that the auto version is sluggish. The manual is no hot rod, even though it looks like one.
