Peugeot 208 - Annoying rattle on new car? - jazzyman

I have a four month old Peugeot 208 which has got an annoying rattle coming from the driver door area or front pillar. Because the car is new and is in warranty would I be in my rights to ask the dealership to try to find out what's causing this rattle and fix it?

I had a new Toyota Corolla which had a rattle behind the dashboard. Toyota dealer took it in for a day and fixed it, no quibble, so your dealer ought to do the same. Good luck!

Had a similar experience with the dashboard on my Golf.

The main dealer was only too pleased to claim the warranty work and eventually mounted the whole dashboard on rubber grommets . Net result far worse.,! Never was fixed !

I have noticed the lengths that Toyota go to to eliminate rattles through engineering them out in the first place ! And a sun visor that actually stays exactly where you want it !

Most certainly. We had a similar strange rattle, especially when going round corners. It turned out to be a stray seat belt bracket bolt rolling around in the depths of the floor/sill area, necessitating much removal and replacement of the interior trim! Carelessness or malice? I remember reading possibly apocryphal stories of disenchanted British Leyland workers leaving beer bottles in bodywork spaces.

A long time ago, one of my pipe-smoking student contemporaries claimed to have embedded a broken pipe in a kerbstone at a factory where he had a vac job. Don't suppose it ever rattled though ...

Absolutely true, but at Jaguar in Browns lane. My Uncle Bill worked there as did one of his sons (my cousin) Spanner or large nut hanging on a bit of string plus some swear words....

The only thing that rattles in the Korando is my teeth when swmbo is driving.

Staying with Browns Lane. Many years ago I watched a program on the history of the motorways where they interviewed a retired police driver. He was one of the first officers to patrol the newly opened motorways and they were given Jaguars. He was saying that they must have known which ones were going to be police cars when they were being built because when they cut the roof lining to put the blue lights in the roof it said inside ‘all coppers are barstools’ I don’t think the swear filter will let m use the real word.

By all means have a go-I had a Golf that had a thoroughly irritating light rattle behind the dash but VW couldn’t find anything.
It got on my nerves for the 3 years I owned the car….ever since then the only thing I can remember about the Golf was that it was red and had a dash rattle.
Chinese torture.
