Honda CRV 2021 EX - What is the best home wash/wax treatment - michaelkumar

I bought a Honda CRV 2021 EX from a honda dealer. The shine on the paint work is fantastic. But what I want to know is what is the best wash/wax/ceramic treamtment to maintain that amazing showroom shine? I don't want to spend hours waxing, just want a quick apply and wipe to protect and maitain the shine. I guess this is what everyone wants. But looking for good suggestions? I am in London, UK so something that is available to buy in London.

I always follow the original Honest John’s suggestion which is to wait until it is raining and apply Turtle Wax zip wax shampoo.

The rainwater rinses the excess shampoo off and leaves no streaks if given a quick wipe over with a leather .

Something quick and easy such as Showroom Shine might be an option. It doesn't last as long as the traditional waxes but it's so quick to apply you are more likely to do it.

I use autoglym 'aqua wax ' after every wash, spray on the wet car, dry then a quick buff,leaves a lovely shine and beads well.

I'm afraid I'm one those that enjoys cleaning my car, gets washed once a week.

Paul are you in a hard water area? I ask because my black car always shows water marks when it dries after washing. It needs a rinse and final wipe with the water from our condenser drier. If I could get the benefit of an aqua wax without the faff of the chalk-free rinse it would be worth trying.

As for HJ rain method it’s never worked for me. It’s OK for the roof and bonnet but the sides still streak.

Our water isn't particularly hard, I forget what it is exactly, I'll have to retest, I'm a keen fishkeeper so I have plenty of water testing equipment.

Aqua wax completely eliminates water marks, it's a drying aid, try it, it works brilliantly.

The rain method is nonsense imho, it's for lazy people who just can't be a**ed, as I said before I enjoy cleaning the car so I don't find it a chore.

After years of hard work I've found the only answer.

Especially for a black car!

Invest in a machine polish and ceramic coating, from a specialist, then rinse, wash then dry with a micro fibre towel, for 4 to 5 years of showroom condition in 30 minutes once a week.

Re the idea of rainwater etc. If I have some, I pour a bucket of rainwater from my water butt over the car after washing. Even if I leave it to dry naturally, there are never any streaks. I am in a very soft water area but tap water still leaves visible streaks if left to dry.

Invest in a machine polish and ceramic coating, from a specialist, then rinse, wash then dry with a micro fibre towel, for 4 to 5 years of showroom condition in 30 minutes once a week.

Totally agree, I polish and seal twice a year, you do need to properly decontaminate the paint first, I use a fall out remover followed by a clay bar.

Weekly wash takes around 45 minutes on average.

Autoglym Super Resin polish , 3 or four times a year. Apply to a clean well washed and dry car. Don’t hesitate to use a little washing up liquid in warm water for stubborn mud, salty areas, specially around the sides bottom and wheels.
Showroom shine guaranteed

2.5 weeks of freezing weather, snow, gritted roads - dirtiest that car has been in 18 months ownership

Yesterday

Tesco Jet wash for some 10 mins - no brush used on car other than wheels & tyres

Back home - rinse 2 watering cans of water

Bucket of warmish water, sponge + 2 x capfuls of "Simoniz Car shampoo+ Carnuba wax".

Costco £5 for 5 litre special offer last year

Rinse, dry off car with microfibre cloth. Hoover mats etc Wipe dashboard etc with another microfibre cloth.

Total about 50 mins - car looking good!
