Hi All,

Off to Croatia at the weekend and in for a long drive when we get there, from Dubrovnik in the South to Riejka in the North - about 360 miles. Mostly toll motorways with 130 KMH limits.

Interested in any tips / watch outs people may have experienced when driving through Croatia.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

No experience at all but, having driven in a few European countries, do you fully understand how the tolls work? I have been caught out a couple of times driving through a toll that requires a tag, rather than being able to pay, because I didn't understand the signs. I then spend what feels like half my holiday trying to find out how to pay retrospectively. In Portugal, if I remember correctly, there were two or three different road operators with different systems.

Thanks all - yes fully understand the tolls, we had a property for many years in the South of France and have had the liber-T tag system for over 12 years, which was always great fun driving through the lane with no queues !! Yes a fairly long drive, but the horses will not be spared.

I will definitely get the info from the hire company, and, if possible, get a tag, rather than use cash/card.

Looking forward to the bridge crossing as well - which I assume is probably a toll like Millau in the South of France.

Cheers P

Never been there so no tips but I did note that the tolls had increased 10% on 1st July. As you say, a long drive, Google is saying 6 1/2 hours in the late evening. You will get to drive over the new Peljesac bridge though.
