If that happens in London, will it affect a lot of Chelsea tractors, or could they afford it anyway, or would they care?
As well as just checking stuff foe a mate going to Versailles, Paris and Disneyland, telling him to get the Crit'Air certificate for his 2008 petrol Zafira... EU breakdown insurance is costing him a fortune, but cheaper than changing the car...
Problem is that car makes are now falling over themsleves to ditch 'traditional cars' for SUVs, which means the chances of people being forced to pay such charges goes up and up. I mean, look at Ford's changes.
Seems that almost every rule or law change in the West these days makes car ownership for anyone except the well off less and less likely. Soooo 'progressive' to make the Plebs go back to the pre-war era of social mobility.
Here's a thought - charge vehicles VED by weight and efficiency, to 'discourage' manufacturers from constantly making each generation bigger and (despite all the 'technological improvements') heavier, which leads to more fuel use and cause more wear to the roads (whatever it is, compared to a lighter, smaller car).
No need for extra parking charges, given cars switched off don't produce any pollution or damage the road.
