Suggestions for a car - Vincere

My car got nicked so we're in the market for a new car but the choices are making it very difficult for me to choose.

We're looking at buying cash and have a maximum of 15k to spend and would ideally like a car with less than 40k miles on. We don't do a massive miles only around 2k a year and the old car was a 1l fiesta which was boring and slow to drive so I was looking for something fun to drive like a focus st or something along those lines but reality is I have a 1yo and my wife wants her in a rear facing seat for as long as possible and wants room in the front. We have 0 plans for more kids so with 15k is it possible to get the best of both worlds?

Cars so far that have caught our eye are the focus st, audi a3, ford kuga and a Renault kadjar.

I'd looked at a few 3 series bmw as well 318i and 320d but my dad says it costs a fortune to service and run a bmw, is this true?

Any help and suggestions welcome.

Your dad is pretty much correct. BMWs are expensive to run and not very reliable.

Personally, I would skip the Renault Kadjar. I had one as a hire car once; the interior was nasty and it was zero fun to drive.

There are lots of options out there. A Honda Civic might work well for you, especially if you find an estate. I would also recommend a Kia Proceed 'shooting brake'. Not the fastest car in the world, but a really nice drive and, to my eye, very handsome. Plenty of boot for the buggy, too.

Something like this has a little more mileage than you're talking about but also has 40,000 miles or 5 years left on the warranty.

For 2000 miles a year. Sensible. Definitely not.

Yeah, I noticed it was diesel after I posted it and tested the link. Still, there's also a 1.4 petrol, and I was more showing an example than suggesting anyone buy that particular car.

I suppose a Mazda 3 could work if it's big enough, or even a Mazda 6 estate.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll add that to the list and have a look at them when my wife's home I'd never seen them before so that's good.

Thanks for the suggestion
