Hyundai Tucson 2016 - Replacement Car Battery - andy4

I need a new battery for my 2016 Hyunai Tucson (diesel 2.0 136hp auto). However I am slightly confused by the range of batteries on offer. Looking at the Tayna website I have the choice of Standard, EFB or AGM batteries. It seem to want go steer me towards AGM batteries (as do all the other websites I have looked at).

Can anyone advise on the type of battery I require? I Was under the impression that AGM batteries were mainly for cars with stop/start. Mine doesn't have that. The original battery is labelled CMF 90L BCI. Does anyone know if this is an AGM battery. It has a flat top which I read somewhere implies that it is.

For info the car often goes for weeks without being used. I use it to tow a caravan.

Grateful for any advice.

If the car is not fitted with s/s system , then an Efb battery is fine . An agm will also do the job , but likely to be more expensive.

Go to the Hyundai garage and get an OEM battery - right battery must cost more but less pain!

My CRV needed a new battery - ordered exactly the same Varta battery make/type from a Honda dealer just to avoid any problems.

Previously I had bought a new battery for my Mazda from Halfords that was supposed to replace the original - it worked, terminals in right place, correct rating etc BUT that battery was taller/slimmer and was a beast to secure in place

I've just changed batteries on two of my cars. Check the handbook or existing battery code and type. If your car has stop/start then EFB or AGM is essential.

I used the Tayna website to get the right one, check physical dimensions and terminal positions of the existing battery against the description on the website.

Tayna delivered quickly and were offering competitve prices compared to other online sites. If you are able to fit the battery yourself then go for it rather than use a fast-fit centre.
