Naff name of the year award - Renault - Trilogy.

No continuity here. Surely some could have come up with a better name than Australia with two letters knocked off the end.

If they think this will lead to much higher sales Down Under, they will be sorely disappointed!

I bet they couldn't use the full name because it has already been copywritten for that very average film with Nicole Kidman and Wolverine in it. :-)

Could be Astral with an extra letter shoe horned in?.

But TBH, you can't really beat the Japanese for naff names (maybe not so much these days though)!

But what on earth is a Captur ? Or a Duster - someone pointed out the other day an anagram of Rusted, or perhaps Sturd-e ?

Here in Taiwan they tend to go for Blinglish, hence Luxgen, though there some that are just odd, (Mitsubishi Grunder?)

The ludicrous Blinglish prize though, has to go to the high rise property developers, whose ever expanding bubble shows no obvious sign of bursting.

"Castle of Glory" anyone?

Or my favorite so far "Hereditary Peerage"

Wasn't there a bit of a stooshie at the time when one of the adverts for BL parts carried the strap-line: "...can you fit a coil to a princess ? "

My memory of a Princess was that I collected a 6 cylinder version to take to a customer for a test drive, and it wouldn't go into reverse for the customer. End of demo...

Delivered an EA van (elephant van) to the same customer and an oil seal failed and dumped oil over his driveway, not a happy man.

Just had a random thought which some may get depending on their age and musical taste. The Gloria was quite a big, conventional saloon and the Sylvia was a smaller, sportier, more attractive car. Was the Gloria, Sylvia's Mother?

If the fashion for car-names-now-trending is to chop the last two letters off a country name, should we soon expect bootlids to be adorned with the likes of Belar (Range Rover nearly got that one!) , Bulgar, Gab, Liber, Mexi and Tuva ? (Ken, Russ and Sam win some car kudos points, though!) And will Alfa one day resurrect the Sud?
