Hi

Ive started a claim with my existing car insurance not realising how high my excess is, no work has been started yet and i qas wondering if i could cancel this claim and reopen it with my new insurer where my excess is half the price. Im really struggling financially right now and really cannot afford the current excess or to pay myself for the car repairs.

You can only claim from the company which insured you at the time of the incident leading to a claim.

Don’t try to con insurance firms, they’ll catch you out and having insurance withdrawn or being done for fraud relating to it will see you uninsurable. Either claim and accept the excess or don’t claim, these are your two options.
