Hi,

Last week my wife drove to the shops and the car was driving fine. After an 1 1/4 hours she came out of the shops and was driving home and the engine started to make a loud knocking (tapping) noise.

The knocking noise does not stop its continuous when stationary and gets louder when driving the car.

No warning lights have appeared at anytime on the dash.

The car mileage is 104,200.

I done an oil change at 103,000.

I took the car to a local mechanic and he said the knocking noise was to do with the clutch so he replaced the Dual Mass Flywheel, new clutch kit and a concentric slave cylinder.

Nothing has changed i still have the loud knocking noise.

I have a feeling the noise is coming from towards the top of the engine but not 100% sure. I am not a mechanic.

Does anyone have any advice on the way forward to resolve this? Any help will be much appreciated.
