Ford Kuga - Ford Kuga 1.5l ecoboost water pump - Michae_l

The water pump had to be replaced at 83000 miles after becoming very noisy. As this runs off the timing belt that was replaced too. So Ford claims to get long life from the timing belt on the ecoboost engine but if the water pump fails then not much benefit from a long lived timing belt!

83,000 miles @ average annual mileage means the water pump is at least 8 years old. Seriously, how much longer do you expect it to last?

2015 Kuga. Did a bit more research and I’m not clear when the timing belt is supposed to be replaced on these, its not one of those that runs in oil, so maybe just as well it was done anyway. I think the Ford mechanics did something with the turbo as well as there was a lot of hissing before, gone now and car has more power.....
