2013 VW Touran 1.6 - DSG auto box failure? Not covered by warranty - Bornfree

Car bought from be main dealer less than year ago. 7 speed DSG auto box causing problems. Local dealer says needs new dsg clutch pack, but not covered by VW Warranty. So it's got to go back to supplying dealer for them to look at. Any advice or prior experience on this. 60k on the clock, full history, 1.6 diesel

A manual gearbox with a regular clutch or a Dsg dual clutch set up are subject to wear and tear . Can’t see the dealer paying for this unless there was a problem initially at purchase . If the main dealer are not going to contribute, then I would find a good Indy specialist .

So in theory no liability from selling dealer..

CRA can be used up until 6 years after the purchase in view of the limitation period. After 6 months you have to show that the product was defective (not of satisfactory quality) rather than a presumption of this if failure was within the 6 month period.

A warranty covers mechanical and electrical manufacturing defects, not wear and tear. This is a seven year old car, not a new one. How do you expect this to be covered by the manufacturer's warranty?

As advised above, get it to a VW specialist indy, get the clutch pack or whatever replaced and then unless you are a gambler i would think about getting rid of it.

The DQ200 is totally unsuited to the torque of a diesel, the car did well to get to 60k. Should have gone for the 2.0L with the wet clutch DSG.

Wait until you get the quote for the replacement clutch pack...

VW need to return to torque convertor automatics. I won't have another until they do.

Get a Touareg - it's never had a DSG.
