Honda Accord 1.8 SE Auto 1999 - resetting the alarm - beecee

Hi everyone

I've owned this car since 2000, except for a few blips I've had a good run and it's been very reliable. Recently I had to leave it with a local garage and the battery drained so they had to jump start it. OK no no problem but now I've found that the alarm has it's gone off and the battery has drained too. So I'm presuming its the alarm which is draining so I've needed to lock it with the deadlocks.Sometime in the past I'm sure I needed to reset it and there was a button/switch in one of the rear''s back section. I can no mention of it in the manual or online. Does anyone have any thoughts, I've just all the obvious things to solve it?

Cheers BC

I owned a 2.0 litre one of these for 10 years . Don’t recall it ever having any alarm system . Perhaps yours has an aftermarket or Honda add on system .

Hi Thanks but I tried that last week. Ben

Step 1

Insert the ignition key in the Accord's driver-side door lock.

Step 2

Turn the key to the unlock position.

Step 3

Turn the key to the lock position.

Step 4

Turn the key back to the unlock position. The alarm should now be disabled.

Start your Honda Accord's engine and allow the vehicle to run for at least 10 minutes. This will allow the Accord to reset the alarm. When you're done, you can shut off the Accord and arm the system as usual.

Got this from google but did use it on BILs car as he replaced battery and had same problem years ago. hth
