Neighbors child had ran into car and scratched door quite deep, it needs door respraying metallic paint, felt sorry for child and mum and dad will pay for repair but what’s the going rate for a door respray

Probably looking around the £200 mark . Depending on how far it has to blend in with front and rear wing panels.

Find your small local non insurance approved body shop, just look for the one all the taxi guys use.

Body shops like this work from word of mouth & reputation of doing decent work.

Am insurance approved body shop on the other hand has a never ending supply of cars to repair ( usually badly ) from the insurance companies & so a simple re spray of a door panel from a private paying customer is of low importance to them - they will quote high & likely do a poor job.

Not that simple, the -blending in is- difficult to do perfectly and not many sprayers do a good invisible job, but as you said go to a known good body shop , not so sure it will be cheap though?

Minimum of £200 for a full door paint and blend in, possibly slightly less if you know someone and are a regular, more in some areas of the country.

Is a smart repair of just the scratch not a possible?, also will the childs father help you both out by ferrying you to/from the bodyshop as necessary, the more cost effective bodyshops alluded to above, which i use, don't have courtesy cars.
