Low mileage, low budget - steer clear of diesels, Ford Powershift, VW DSG,

Best plan is a non turbo petrol, Japanese/Korean estate /hatchback, manual BUT is still a job to find a car with a relatively low mileage & do 50K in 5 years, and still accommodate a baby & all that entails.

Petrol Avensis, Petrol Mazda 6 come to mind - then there are Focus & Astra but not as reliable as the first 2.

Condition, Condition, Condition, auditable service history, MoT history and a good eye to spot differences in paint / accident damage.

You've asked the same question on here every few months, the last time in January this year.

Our advice is excellently summarised by Falkirk Bairn above. But I'm curious to know what haas happened when we've advised you in the past. Do you keep changing your car, or is there something missing in our advice so that you still haven't bought a car?
