2009 Peugeot 207 petrol - Coolant temperature problem - koliva

Hi all,

I just bought this as a second hand car from a person and I realized the following possible issue. When I start driving, I see that the coolant temp. gauge increases and hits close to 90 C. but the issue is that this takes a loooong time. I mean, this morning, I hooked up my old DiagBox and started measuring the temperature. It increases incredibly slow. Imagine I drove about 35 kilometer on highway and it just arrived to 50 C at the end of the journey. The temperature increased literally 1 C each minute or so. I turned on the blowers to max and hottest and it was quite hot. I mean, I closed the air outlet with my hand and I could resist only 5 seconds. The coolant level is OK. What would be the issue here? How can I possibly verify if the coolant temperature is actually correct?

Put a thermometer in the expansion tank to get a reading of the coolant temperature.

Compare that with what Diagbox is reporting.
