Toyota Yaris - New Toyota Yaris smell of burning rubber during te - Firsay86

I testdrove a new Toyota Yaris year 2017, petrol, non-hybrid, 1,3 L with automatic gear, which I consider buying.

During the testdrive, sudddenly, smell of burnt rubber appears inside the car after driving out of the highway I take the car back on the highway with the cardealer once again and same thing happens, again smell of burnt rubber.
The car was driven normally. Aircondition/airvent was on.
We stop the car, open the hood and the smell of burnt rubber is coming from the engine and not the tires.

What cant it be, what do I do?

Don't buy it!

could be anything,

last one I came across it turned out to be a seized coolant pump which in turn almost destroyed the timing belt!

so any rotating part that isn't can ruin any belt.

Agreed, walk away.

What does this tell you about the garage, they are trying to sell a car that stinks of burning rubber and it appears there is no one there capable of finding the problem and fixing it, what hope if a real fault develops once you've bought it.

Also agree. Walk away (preferably run)!

You now know why the last owner got rid of it!

The garage should have checked it over before putting it on the forecourt. I wouldn't trust them to fix it properly.

I'm curious.. What country are you in? You speak about "hood" and "highway" which makes me think that you're not in the UK. In any case the advise would be the same.
