Ford Fiesta mk7 - Purchased a car at Arnold Clark - frankf
Hi everyone hope everybody is well,

So I bought a used car from Arnold Clark a wee Ford Fiesta zetec s 2010 after taking it home I ran a car check app, which I should of done beforehand, and it states on its first mot 200.000 odd miles had been added then the following mot they disappeared when I bought it it was 37000 miles, is that grounds for a refund? before I call them has any1 got any advice on this matter.

The MOT history - on internet - will show mileage at MOTs.. What was the advertised mileage?

It was advertised as 37633 I done a online check and it said it said on the online checker that on the 2013 mot it when in with 23722 it frailer then when it got repaired to pass the mot they added 210.000 miles to its mileage and then on 2014 mot the 210.000 miles disappear and from every mot since there a warning about the mileage, it’s look kind of shady and i wouldn’t purchased the car if I was told or seen this

Run the reg through this:

www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

and tell us the mileages for each year.

I suspect 'fat finger MOT inspector' syndrome may be at play - if it was on 24,000, it is easy to enter 224,000 on a keyboard and not realise until it is too late .

So in the space of a few days (in 2013) the mileage jumped from 23,722 to 233,722? Sounds like the MOT tester has entered the wrong mileage when he retested the car in 2013.

If one of these cars had done over 230,000 miles, I'm pretty sure you'd know about it by its overall condition.

2016- 34,653 miles

It’s a common issue and 99.9% likely to be down to one fat fingered Mot tester inputting an extra digit.

Yeah a hope it was the thing i dont get is why when it was rectified they didn’t take 210,000 they deducted 205,896

They’ve just correctly inputted the mileage the car had at the time of the next Mot. It’s the previous Mot that was obviously wrong. It’s too big a discrepancy to indicate foul play. I wouldn’t worry, it sounds like a very low mileage user has owned it. If it’s a petrol model from this era which uses a Yamaha designed motor it’ll be a very faithful little car to you.

They haven't deducted any mileage. The MOT tester just reads the mileometer each year. So in 2014 it read 27,853.

They haven't corrected the mileage, They've just read it each year. It's just that they recorded it wrong when they did the MOT retest in 2013.

Between the MOT's in 2013 and 2014 it's done 4,131 miles.

Deduction probably best described as fat-fingered logic. Don't worry about it.

That sort of mileage in a year would mean well over 500 miles every single day. It just didn't happen.

Because the car had done 4,104 miles in the year since the previous MoT.

In practice there was no deducting at at - all they did was to record the mileage accurately on the next MoT.
