Megane 2008 - Pas front brake hissing after disc/pad replacement - Monkaymagic

Hi,

Had someone to replace pads and discs all around today. Have noticed when the ignition is on and I press the brake pedal that there is a noise which sounds exactly like a bicycle pump coming from the passenger side front footwell. Only happens when I press the brake down. Not hvingg an idea about cars....any ideas?

I'd suggest it's the vacuum from your brake servo. Does it stop after you press the brake pedal several times? If so it means you've emptied the vacuum reservoir and the pedal then becomes very hard. If you then re-start the engine, does the brake pedal become softer?

Hi,

Yes the hissing stops after I press the pedal several times when the car is stopped andas you say the pedal becomes very firm. Then when I re-start the car the pedal goes down an inch or so andbecomes softer.

Should add that's it's not a continual hiss ....with the brake pedal pressed down it lasts a couple of seconds and then stops. I then release the brake pedal and press it again and it happens again for a few seconds.....no problem with it yesterday discs and pads changed todayand problem occurred

Mistake or sabotage?

Amusing post from someone who (shock horror) waits for the absent brake pad lining noise before changing pads!
