Any chance you can write your post in intelligible English, rather than a load of nonsense?

?

Post seems fairly clear to me, from 3pm on Aug 17th till 6am (or 8am if using call centre) on Mon 20th, you won't be able to tax a new car. Presumably this also means if buying a used car that weekend, if the car in question is not currently taxed, you won't be able to tax that either.

Very useful info for whom it concerns Gerry

Just ignore Grumpy!

I don't see the problem.

If you're buying a new car make sure the dealer registers it before the weekend.

If you're buying a used car, then the change of keeper will also be delayed, so it's not going to show up as untaxed (the old keeper's details will still show).

The only issue is if you're buying a car which is currently SORN or in the trade?

But technically it is untaxed - if you are stopped by the police or have an accident you could be prosecuted

I can’t make head nor tail of the first few lines. What on earth does pinned tweet mean? And copy link to tweet? And embed tweet? Eh?

Perfectly clear to me too. What Leif was trying to say was 'thank you so much for taking the time to give us the infomation'.

Gerry S used to call himself 'Dwight Van Driver', and over the years has given us many pieces of valuable information like this or advised posters, often on legal issues.

Many thanks. The majority of us are hugely grateful.

I also seem to recall DVD saying he'd been very ill (stroke?) and struggled to type.

As to a pinned Tweet it's like the pinned posts here; stays at the top of your page so it's first thing users see.

Correct, Bromp - I too seem to remember he'd had a stroke, though I believe he reported that he'd made good progress since.

I also seem to remember his legal experience came from previous work with the police.

Apologies to DVD if I've got any of this wrong.
