Yesterday I realised I had not recieved my road tax reminder so have just spent much of the morning looking for my log book, which at the momengt I cannot lay my hands n. The website says it could take up to six weeks to obtain a new one. With the tax expiring in a few days what is the best way forward?

Renew the tax online.

He can't, you need either the reminder letter or the V5 (you use the reference number off the V5 as well as the numberplate)

Whilst it 'can' take up to six weeks, they are normally very quick - 2-3 days is quite common.

Alternatively, give them a call. As you're the current keeper, you may be able to tax it over the phone.
