Peugeot 207 SW - Central locking quirk - Andrew-T

The lock/unlock for the tailgate hatch has got out of phase (as it were). Remote lock and unlock seems to function normally. If a door is opened after a few minutes, the hatch opens at the same time. It can be closed and everything behaves as normal, except that the hatch release near the rear no.plate has no effect.

Is there a way to reset the locking sequence ?

You could try a BSI reset,

Google BSI reset for the procedure.

Sounds like the taIlgate rubber paddle switch is faulty

Is this thing accessible, and if so, where ?

I think you may have answered your own question " the hatch release near the rear no.plate has no effect."You will probably need to remove the tailgate door card to access the electric release paddle/switch.May find it is stuck in the "on "position.

Today tried Plan A (BSI reset), which as I expected did not cure the problem. I shall try your Plan B soon, when the resurfacing of my parking area is complete. Presumably removing the tailgate trim is a matter of levering with a wide blade (e.g.scraper) as with a typical door card?

UPDATE - Plan B not required. Problem seems to have disappeared following operation of the Lock button on the fascia (which we almost never use). I'm surprised that would retain a 'wrong setting' in the memory for a week or more, especially after a Reset. I shall reserve judgment for a few days.

SECOND UPDATE - the Doctor's original diagnosis calling for Plan B seems to have been correct. The problem returned, but has now gone away again. However thumping the tailgate near the hatch release can have the desired effect, so it seems that is the site of the problem. Haven't removed the interior trim yet, but may do if/when required.
