Be aware they sold in very small numbers. Parts may be hard or impossible to get hold of, or involve a langthy wait.

Very well made cars but as already said parts will be difficult to get, there's zero aftermarket availability due to low numbers of cars on the road. I'd only buy if it's cheap enough to throw away if anything even moderate fails on it. Second to this rust protection on imported cars like this is of a much lower standard than we normally get. If it's been here for a while it could be Rotten underneath. Expect no more than 28-30mpg too.

If the camry you are looking at has the same bodystyle as the one Rob linked to, i'd steer clear of it. Partly because of the potential problems getting parts for a version not sold in the UK. But also because it is quite a big car, and a n/a 2.0 would probably be struggling to pull it along the road!. This generation in the UK was offered with either a 2.4 4 cylinder or a 3.0 V6. But, the upside is, it is unlikely to ever break down! There are only 3 showing on autotrader and one is the previous gen, of the other two, one is the V6

The other is the 2.4

I do like them myself, unpretentious anonymous luxury with no reliability concerns.

Buy a Lexus GS - similar sized car - there are some around the same prices + parts more llikely to be available.

Beware .. some parts like brake master cyylcinders are NOT cheap...think £1000s.

Working in a 'used and nearly new executive car specialist' (their words, not mine!) circa 1996, 2 identical pale metallic blue toyota camry estates turned up as trade ins. Top of the range 3l V6 petrol automatics with electric evrything. I remember being very impressed by them, and being particularly tickled by the dual rear wipers!. The only other car i'd ever seen that on was my maths teachers 1985(ish) nissan 300C estate.
