This guy from Ebay helped cut and program a new key for me. He had some trouble connecting to the car computer and burnt some wiring ( around the ignition coils)in the process of trying to do something. He changed the wiring and said everything was okay and left. Now the oil pressure light is flashing. I changed the oil 4 months ago and the level is fine. I changed the oil pressure switch just in case but that made no difference. Now sometimes the headlight blue beam comes on its own and won't go off even if the car is turned off and locked. what could be the problem here please?

The problem is you went to "a guy on ebay" - why did you expect him to be cheap unless he took shortcuts?

As blunt and unsympathetic as that is, I can't offer anything better.

I'm guessing 'the guy from ebay' was cheaper than taking it to a proper garage.

Now you know why.

How much did you pay this guy to break your car?Sounds like he has damaged the instrument cluster,as this is where the immobiliser electronics are stored.

Do you think a damaged instrument cluster will have any bearing on the headlight. It currently won't go off.

I don't think £150 was just peanuts not at least for me. But it was still cheaper than other places.

Cheaper in what way? You now have a broken car. If you had paid a propper locksmith a little more the car would still be working.

Any luck getting the Ebay wonder mechanic back?

I really can,t understand what has been done here.The correct procedure is to order a remote key fob and blade cut to car vin number for around £150,from VW dealer.you then get somebody to programme it via the diagnostic system .Takes around 20 mins.Total cost ,just over £200 job done ,no tools required and no need to open the bonnet.Where did the burnt wiring come from?
