Those active on other forums might want to ensure the word is out.

Thanks for the heads up.

Legal notices, from whoever, are not sent via email

If you think, even for a moment, where would they get an email address for you?

Folks : I know it's fake.

Some of you can see that it's fake. But it's entirely feasible for the less computer-savvy to be taken in by it

Don't assume everyone is as internet-literate and wary as we are.

Well spotted Rob. I take it they had vehicle details too? Just goes to show how wary we need to be these days. Thanks for the heads up.

Indeed - many thanks Rob. It's still all too easy to be taken in. In the last half-hour I've had a meesage flashed up on the computer screen threatening to close it down if I don't ring 0800 090 3853.

If you google that number you can see it's a scam. Also beware of anyone claiming to be from 'Windows Technical Support'. Windows is just the operating system and it doesn't have its own technical support.

I've been getting those Scam calls from "Microsoft Support" for several years - had two today! My response varies according to my mood - some times politely ending the call, sometimes spinning them along as far as I can and a few occasions being downright offensive.

As someone pointed out in the "I" newspaper the other day- "in the capitalist jungle we need to build our nests in the tallest trees".

SCAM IMHO

Because under S 1a Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988 which deals with NOIP stipulates method of service to be lawful and electronicservice is not included. (unless there has been a SI authorising that I am not aware of)

Anybody informed GMP?

I was plagued on my business number by scam artists so much so I was almost ready to do away with the phone altogether.

Personal favourite was the Police Handbook. Caller would tell you they're from the local Police press dept and that your business had been "specially selected" for an advert in the Police Handbook delivered to all officers in the region. Cost was usually around £300 or so but clearly sounded strange so quick online search revealed it as a very well known scam and in no way related to the Police.

Even had the cheek to send me an invoice and threatening follow up demand despite telling them politely no thanks. Naive lady who run a Jewlers next door sadly fell for it, among many other scams over the years before she wised up.
