If these migrants are moved to areas of France and registered in France, does this mean they will be issued with French passports which would then allow them to enter the UK under the EU's freedom of movement?

No, because registration is nothing like gaining nationality - and they'd need to be French nationals before being granted passports by France.

They are being issued with temporary french Titres de Sejour which gives them the right to reside in France during the time the card is valid - about 6 months I think, this is not an EU document so does not help them to access residency in the UK.

Has a new camp been erected elsewhere?

They are being dispersed all over France in small groups to various towns.

The local Mayors have been told they can't refuse to house them - a lot of ill-feeling about this from the French as they are mostly not families with children - but young single men.
