2011 golf mk6 1.4 tsi 160gt - Tsi twin charger buying advice - Kirkles
So I went to test drive this car last week and I'm very keen, but!!! I have read all the negative press on the twin charger set up and it worrys me. The car dealer is offering 2 year extended warranty on the car but I don't want to buy a donkey. The car has 42k on the clock and is in great condition but is there anything I should be looking for inparticular. Like I say I'm am keen but will this car last another 3 years/ 30k

So long as the warranty is a VW approved used and the car from a VW dealer, you'll have 2 years of peace of mind so long as you service it correctly.

If it does you two years without a hiccup thats the time to decide about its future.

Could you squeeze three years warranty out of the deal?

Aftermarket warranty i wouldn't give the time of day to.

Let's put it this way,the twin charge engine was so good that VW stopped making it. Decide for yourself.Personally,I would avoid this engine at all cost.Far too much to go wrong ,and it does.

There are no doubt plenty of twin charge TSi's out there that are giving reliable service but there are also plenty that have been nothing but a money pit for the owners.

If you can be 100% certain its a well cared for example that has been drive by a responsible owner and has never been chipped with the 2 year warranty it may be worth further consideration.

But it needs to be a genuine VW warranty to be worth the paper its written on and then you need to be aware that there is a £200 excess on every claim you make.

Personally I would not consider one and I own a TSi 140 PS Seat Leon that I am entirely happy with.

Just visit the forums and read the many posts where owners tune them up to stupid power levels and then record thenselves doing 0-60 runs. When more responsible owners point out what its doing to their cars they simply say that they will sell before the warranty expires and then its someone elses problem.

Are you feeling lucky?

You may be able to get a 2013 on 140PS Leon FR for similar money which has a newer much more reliable engine.
